Turkey Demographic and Health Survey 2008 project, prepared by Hacettepe University Institute
of Population Studies has been accepted by TÜBİTAK. The project is planned to last 42 months,
and will be carried out as a TÜBİTAK project. The State Planning Organization and Ministry of
Health are involved in the project as client institutions.
Turkey National Maternal Mortality Study, carried out by an international consortium involving
the Hacettepe University Institute of Population Studies within the “Turkey Reproductive Health
Programme”, is complete. The national meeting of the study was held in Ankara (Ankara Meeting
Programme) on 8th December 2006 with the participation of province project teams, province
administrators, health staff, representatives from non-governmental organizations and
international organizations. The regional meetings of the National Maternal Mortality Study
were held at the Gaziantep Grand Hotel on 15th December 2006 and at İzmir Balçova Termal Hotel

Turkey Migration and Internally Displaced Population Survey (TMIDPS), carried out
by the Hacettepe University Institute of Population Studies under the coordination of T.R.
Prime Ministry State Planning Organization is complete. The presentation meeting of the survey
was held in Ankara on 6th December 2006 with the participation of Abdülkadir Aksu, Minister of
Interior Affairs, other ministry staff, Walter Kälin, UN Special Representative of Human Rights Internally Displaced Population, academicians,
